Jonathan Karl said Robert Mueller's report is "almost certain to be anti-climactic."
Jonathan Karl, who was on "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" discussing the bombshell report in The New York Times and Washington Post that said the FBI opened up a counterintelligence investigation into President Donald Trump in the days after he fired James Comey because they were suspicious of his behavior, also said there has been no proof of collusion between Trump's campaign team and the Russians during the 2016 presidential election.
Here’s what he said…
People who are closest to what Mueller has been doing, of interacting with the special counsel, caution me that this report is almost certain to be anti-climatic, that if you look at what the FBI was investigating in that New York Times report, you look at what they were investigating, Mueller did not go anywhere with that investigation.“He has been writing his report in real time though these indictments and we have seen nothing from Mueller on the central question of was there any coordination, collusion, with the Russians in the effort to meddle in the elections? Or was there even any knowledge on the part of the president, or anybody in his campaign, with what the Russians were doing? He’s made no indication of that.
Quick, someone call Glenn Beck because I’m about to faint with surprise!
Seriously though, the notion that this report may be a dud must be sending waves of agony in the left. They are running out of arrows in their quiver to take Trump down before 2020 and it looks like this report may be end up being just a nerf arrow. Heh.
Of course we’ll see, but I don’t think any of us will be shocked when it turns out that Mueller’s report will be about everything other than Trump and his campaign in 2016.
