Wall Street Journal: NRA chief executive says he was pressured to resign by group's president

Image
In a Thursday letter to NRA board members, LaPierre said North asked him to resign on Wednesday. North told LaPierre the NRA’s longtime advertising firm, Ackerman McQueen, planned to send a letter to the board through North that would be “bad for me” unless he resigned. “Yesterday evening, I was forced to confront one of those defining choices — styled, in the parlance of extortionists — as an offer I couldn’t refuse,” the letter, which was obtained by the Wall Street Journal, read. “I refused it.” He also wrote that North said “the letter would not be sent — if I were to abruptly resign,” adding, “He stated that he could ‘negotiate’ an ‘excellent retirement’ for me.” Well this is getting weird now. Wayne LaPierre of the NRA told the board of directors that he was extorted by NRA prez Ollie North to resign. And the WAPO got the goods: BREAKING: NRA chief Wayne LaPierre claims he's being extorted and pressured to resign by NRA President Oliver North, over allegations of...

Meghan McCain to Biden: What took so long?

Image
Former Vice President Joe Biden on why he took so long to announce his 2020 run: “I don’t think it’s too long ... I think this is plenty of time.”

Joe Biden opens up about inappropriate behavior accusations against him

Image
The presidential candidate discusses concerns about his age and explains how he'll handle the public given recent controversies. Watch: Creepy Joe Biden won’t apologize because he wants to keep up this perception that he didn’t really do anything wrong. But anybody who has seen his creepy interactions with women knows that he’s crossed lines that shouldn’t be crossed. It’s so obvious. But what’s worse for him now is that he just sounds emasculated, like a weak-willed namby-pamby trying to explain how careful he has to be around women, second guessing his interactions with women so he doesn’t creep them out. It’s actually painful to watch and I think it’s the worst possible way to start a campaign for president. Like some of you, I had once thought that he might be the best the Democrats have to offer to run against Trump. But the more he’s forced to talk about this stuff, the less I believe that’s the case anymore.

Anderson Cooper: How many 'fine people' would march with Nazis?

Image
CNN's Anderson Cooper rips President Donald Trump for once again defending his 2017 comments that there were "very fine people on both sides" of the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that left one counterprotester dead. This is exactly what I was talking about the in last post where Trump was defending his Charlottesville comments. Pathetic Jim Acosta ‘fact checks’ Trump’s comments from this morning, suggesting he was talking about Neo-Nazis and White Supremacists: Trump defends his “very fine people” comments on Charlottesville: “People were there protesting the taking down of the monument of Robert E. Lee. Everybody knows that.” Fact check: There were many neo-Nazis and white supremacists. — Jim Acosta (@Acosta) April 26, 2019 But as we pointed out  that’s clearly not true . And folks on Twitter were quick to point that out as well: Fact check this: "I'm not talking about the neo-Nazis and the white nationalists, bec...

Trump doubles down on ‘very fine people’ comment after Charlottesville

Image
President Trump is once again defending comments he made about the white supremacists who gathered in Charlottesville in 2017. Watch:   Trump defended his response to the violence in Charlottesville in 2017 when he said there were “very fine people on both sides.” He said the was talking about people who “felt very strongly about the monument to Robert E. Lee. A great general, whether you like it or not.” In case you didn’t hear the question clearly, Trump was asked if he still says there were very fine people on both sides in Charlottesville. This is actually really important because the media continues to lie about what he actually said, accusing him of praising the Neo-Nazis and white supremacists. As pointed out by Steve Cortes at Real Clear Politics the other day, here’s the transcript of Trump’s comments from 2017: “Excuse me, they didn’t put themselves down as neo-Nazis, and you had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people...

Rosenstein slams Obama administration for choosing ‘not to publicize full story’ of Russia hacking

Image
Rosenstein, who was speaking in New York at the Public Servants Dinner of the Armenian Bar Association, defended his handling of the probe and criticized former officials in the process. He also called out former FBI Director James Comey for alerting Congress about the investigation into Russian collusion at the height of the 2016 presidential campaign. “The FBI disclosed classified evidence about the investigation to ranking legislators and their staffers,” he said. “Someone selectively leaked details to the news media. The FBI director [Comey] announced at a congressional hearing that there was a counterintelligence investigation that might result in criminal charges. Then the former FBI director alleged that the president pressured him to close the investigation, and the president denied that the conversation occurred. "So that happened,” he joked. The Obama administration has been criticized for its handling of the Russian interference. Trump has blamed Obama...

The U.S. economy grew faster than expected in first quarter

Image
The first GDP numbers were released this morning, showing a 3.2% growth for the first quarter.  It’s being reported that the growth in the first quarter of 2019 the growth of the economy “smashed” expectations – at least that’s how CNN is putting it in their chyron. Indeed, that’s what everyone is suggesting: Breaking: U.S. economy grew 3.2 percent in first quarter @SaraEisen reports CNBC  – The U.S. economy grew at a faster pace than expected in the first quarter and posted its best growth to start a year in six years. First-quarter GDP expanded by 3.2% in the first quarter, the Bureau of Economic Analysis said. Economists polled by Dow Jones expected the U.S. economy increased by 2.5% in the first quarter. It was the first time since 2013 that first-quarter GDP topped 3%. “The upside beat was helped by net trade (exports jumped while imports contracted sharply) and inventories which combined contributed almost 170 bps of the rise,” wrote Peter Boockvar, c...

Trump vows to defy Hill subpoenas, but will the public care?

Image
President Trump vows to fight “all the subpoenas” coming from Congress, putting Washington on edge over how far the administration will take their resistance of Congressional oversight. Ari Melber examines past examples of Trump’s “tough talk” and breaks down why despite his words, Trump may not want “all the smoke”. It’s being reported tonight that Peter Strzok and Lisa Page apparently wanted to use a post election briefing to see if they could develop some spy relationships in the Trump administration. And it also reveals that they already had one contact in the White House, the Chief of Staff for Mike Pence. Here’s more: FOX NEWS – Text messages between former FBI officials Peter Strzok and Lisa Page indicate they discussed using briefings to the Trump team after the 2016 election to identify people they could “develop for potential relationships,” track lines of questioning and “assess” changes in “demeanor” – language one GOP lawmaker called “more evidence”...

Joe Biden endorsed by Michael Avenatti after launching 2020 bid: 'He has my enthusiastic support'

Image
Joe Biden announced his campaign for president today with much fanfare from the media. But he also got something else that he probably wasn’t expecting (or wanting): “I am extremely happy that @JoeBiden has decided to enter the race. He offers Dems the very best chance in 2020, especially in key states. He has the fight, intelligence and fortitude to beat Trump and begin to make America, America again. He has my enthusiastic support,” Avenatti tweeted. Earlier this month, Avenatti, the former Stormy Daniels attorney and once-rumored 2020 presidential candidate, was slapped with three dozen new federal charges alleging he stole millions of dollars from his clients, failed to pay taxes and lied in bankruptcy cases, amongst other accusations. The 48-year-old was indicted by a Southern California grand jury following his arrest last month in New York for allegedly trying to shake down Nike for up to $25 million. “I intend to fully fight all charges and plead NOT...

Presidential Candidate Joe Biden: I asked President Obama not to endorse

Image
Hours after announcing his 2020 run, Joe Biden deputy campaign manager Kate Bedingfield confirmed to Trang Ánh Nam that the former vice president requested that former President Barack Obama not endorse his candidacy. Bedingfield also elaborated on Biden's appeal to Democratic voters. In honor of Joe Biden running for president AGAIN, I thought it would be fun to post a video by America Rising of Joe’s greatest hits. Watch: One thing about Joe that we found out very early in the Obama administration was that his reputation for making gaffes was quite accurate. We all remember his infamous BFD whisper to Obama that was heard by hot mics. There were plenty of other times that he stuck his foot in his mouth. In fact I seem to recall Joe Biden disappearing for large intervals of time because his mouth had become a liability to the administration. I don’t expect Biden to be any different this time around, so get your popcorn ready. Also, since we haven’t had one ...

President Trump's latest attacks on Mueller playing right into the hands of Democrats

Image
NYT White House correspondent Annie Karni, former deputy Assistant Attorney General Harry Litman, NYT’s Nick Confessore, NBC’s Heidi Przybyla, former WH Comms Director Jennifer Palmieri, and Donny Deutsch on Trump’s latest Twitter attack against Mueller and his star witness, Donald McGahn Trump defended himself against a central accusation of obstruction in the Mueller report today in a few early morning Tweets. Essentially he explains that he never told Don McGahn to fire Robert Mueller and points out that he didn’t need to, as he could have just done it himself. As has been incorrectly reported by the Fake News Media, I never told then White House Counsel Don McGahn to fire Robert Mueller, even though I had the legal right to do so. If I wanted to fire Mueller, I didn’t need McGahn to do it, I could have done it myself. Nevertheless,.... — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 25, 2019 ....Mueller was NOT fired and was respectfully allowed to finish his work on...

CNN's Anderson Cooper mocks Trump for speaking in third person: He's 'not supposed to talk like Elmo'

Image
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper closed his show on Wednesday night by mocking President Trump for his “unusual tic” of speaking in the third person, comparing him to the “Sesame Street” character Elmo. President Trump spoke to reporters earlier in the day and attacked the Mueller probe as a “witch hunt.” “We just went through the Mueller witch hunt, where you had, really, 18 angry Democrats that hate President Trump. They hate him with a passion,” Trump said. Cooper cried foul on numerous fronts. “Him! He is him! Why is he doing this?” Cooper asked. “Also, grammar aside for a moment, if he says ‘witch hunt’ one more frickin' time, Glinda is gonna float down from Oz and tell Lee Greenwood to hit the yellow brick road because Dorothy has arrived with the Lion, the Tin Man, and the Scarecrow. Of course, the Scarecrow doesn’t have a brain, but even if he did, the third-person-in-chief wouldn’t be worried.” The CNN anchor then played a clip of Trump...

McCains and Lara Trump : Joe Biden is the most sane choice of 2020 Democrats

Image
The McCain family intends to support former Vice President Joe Biden in the Democratic presidential primary (when he gets in the race), and if he’s the nominee, in the general election against President Donald Trump. Yet the family is still debating with Biden when to voice their support, out of concern that their endorsement could hurt the former vice president in the primaries, the Washington Examiner reported. Cindy McCain took to Twitter to deny the report. Joe Biden is a wonderful man and dear friend of the McCain Family. However, I have no intention of getting involved in presidential politics. — Cindy McCain (@cindymccain) April 24, 2019 The families have known each other for decades but reportedly became closer when John McCain was diagnosed with the same cancer that Biden’s son died from. Biden cancelled a campaign kickoff scheduled for Wednesday in Charlottesville, Virginia, and is now planning to do a video rollout on Thursday.

They were going to interview Hasenhuttl in the tunnel! Would have looked weird if they didn’t have anything to say I the way there 😁

Nah. Um @KellyCates - we need an explanation I’m baffled. Was this live? Were they out of shot? Producers, directors... what happened here?

Joe Biden leads 2020 Democratic presidential polls but will he live up to voters' expectations?

Image
Former Vice President Joe Biden will announce his presidential bid Thursday morning with an online video, according to reports. But is Biden's plan causing concern among Democrats? The panel discusses. Biden was probably hoping to announce his candidacy for president tomorrow with much fanfare and praise from the media, but that’s not what he got from those on Morning Joe this morning. Both Joe Scarborough and John Heilemann don’t think it’s going to end well for Biden: Here’s the transcript from Newsbusters: JOE SCARBOROUGH: I have yet to talk to a Democratic activist or a Democratic fundraiser who is excited about Joe Biden getting in the race. And, I’ll take it a step further, and I’ve been surprised, but almost every Democrat, to a person, that I have spoken with is concerned that this is going to end badly for Joe Biden, and that he should not get into the race. And that is something I have heard repeatedly over the past several months. What about you? JOHN HEI...

FOX NEWS anchors STUNNED that Democrats are ok with felons and terrorists voting…

Image
At a town hall event with Democratic presidential candidates shown on CNN, a student asked Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., if he favors allowing people in prison to vote, including convicted killers like the Boston marathon bomber. Sanders responded: “If somebody commits a serious crime, sexual assault, murder, they're going to be punished. … But I think the right to vote is inherent to our democracy. Yes, even for terrible people.” CNN’s Don Lemon then asked Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif.: “But people who are in – convicted, in prison, like the Boston Marathon bomber, on death row, people who are convicted of sexual assault, they should be able to vote?” Harris said: “I think we should have that conversation.” Oh, great answer! So just days after terrorists murdered over 300 men, women and children in Sri Lanka, the Democrats tackle stuff that truly matters. Can our terrorists here still vote?       Yesterday we reported on one CNN host casting shade on Kama...

Sen. Cory “Spartacus” Booker : It's not enough to just say 'I'm not a racist'

Image
New Jersey Senator Cory Booker responds to a question about Rep. Ilhan Omar, race, and Islamophobia at the She the People Presidential Forum today in Houston. Watch below: This is definitely one of the big things that divides the old establishment Democrats, who at least pretended to be on the side of Israel, and the new far left extremist commie weirdos who are openly and brazenly calling for the destruction of Israel. These nutters are gaining more prominence, and hopefully more reasonable Americans will reject their extremism, and that of the increasibly liberal Democrats….

President Trump says "So unfair to the U.S. OUT OF CONTROL!"

Image
Judge Paul Watford took issue with how the migrants have been processed and whether the government was giving them a fair opportunity to express their concerns about returning to Mexico – even if on a temporary basis. “I don’t understand how that’s not arbitrary and capricious,” Watford said about current protocols which do not demand government border agents ask about fears migrants might have about staying in Mexico. Judge Diarmuid O’Scannlain, a Reagan appointee who seemed favorably disposed to the government’s case, asked the lawyer representing migrants held in Mexico why her clients would rather be in detention in the United States than have freedom of movement in Mexico. “We don’t want to be in Mexico. We’d rather be in the United States,” Judy Rabinovitz of the ACLU replied. Outside the courthouse after the hearing, Rabinovitz, who said she was cautiously optimistic for a favorable ruling, went on further to say, “we have... heard of people who are kidnapped and given de...

Sen. Mike Lee says report found no 'scintilla' of collusion

Image
Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, weighs in on the Mueller report, the Trump WH's plan to fight a subpoena of Don McGahn, Kirstjen Nielsen's attempts to prepare for Russian interference in the 2020 election and his new book 'Our Lost Declaration.' President Donald Trump was  Fighting All The Subpoenas on twitter. In a series of tweets, the commander-in-chief complained yet again about press coverage of his administration, scrutiny from congressional Democrats, and migrants and asylum seekers attempting to enter the United States. Trump first revived his accusation against “United Kingdom Intelligence” for “helping Obama Administration Spy” on his campaign. The British GCHQ rebutted the claim, aggressively, without naming Trump. Donald J. Trump ✔ @realDonaldTrump “Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson accuses United Kingdom Intelligence of helping Obama Administration Spy on the 2016 Trump Presidential Campaign.” @ OANN WOW! It is now just a question ...
