Kamala Harris on Trump: 'I believe Congress should take the steps towards impeachment'
Harris' comment at a CNN town hall in New Hampshire comes amid a growing debate among Democrats over whether the House should move to impeach the President in the wake of special counsel Robert Mueller releasing his report on Russian intervention in the 2016 election and Trump's efforts to obstruct the investigation.
"I think we have very good reason to believe that there is an investigation that has been conducted which has produced evidence that tells us that this President and his administration engaged in obstruction of justice," Harris said. "I believe Congress should take the steps towards impeachment."
Harris added: "I believe that we need to get rid of this President. That's why I'm running to become president of the United States. That is part of the premise, obviously, of my plan."
Kamala Harris didn’t have a stellar performance last night in her hour town hall on CNN, and they noticed.
Today CNN threw some shade her way for dodging more than a couple of direct questions on several different issues.
Watch:
I’ll give credit to CNN for at least pointing this out to their viewers in one little segment.
Of course if it were Trump, they’d have panels talking all day long about how unqualified he sounds saying “we should have that conversation” over and over.
But Maeve Reston is right that Kamala doesn’t want to answer the question but wants to sound like she’s own your side. It is somewhat clever but it also has an expiration date. By that I mean people are already starting to pickup on this and more people will notice if she continues employing this dodge on the campaign trail. Either she stops now or we get to watch fun videos of her saying it over and over in the near future.
But it’s really indicative of her not wanting to take a side on key issues, which is appalling, especially in the case of what Bernie Sanders said last night. She was asked about the Boston bomber voting from jail and all she could say was “we should have that conversation”?
How pathetic!
