BREAKING: Rubio's AI Crackdown—Visa Holders Supporting Hamas Will Be Deported!

Secretary of State Marco Rubio is stepping up his game and creating an AI-driven program that will search the social media accounts of foreign nationals with visas to find pro-Hamas activists, in order to revoke their visas and send them packing.

Rubio’s new initiative, called “Catch and Revoke,” aims to leverage artificial intelligence to conduct extensive reviews of tens of thousands of student visa holders’ social media activities. According to senior State Department officials, this effort represents a significant escalation in the U.S. government's scrutiny of foreign nationals’ behavior and statements.

The AI-assisted review will focus on identifying any expressions of support for Hamas or other designated terrorist organizations, particularly following the group’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. Federal officials are also investigating whether visa holders were previously arrested but allowed to remain in the U.S. under the Biden administration.

Additionally, news reports detailing anti-Israel demonstrations, as well as lawsuits from Jewish students alleging antisemitic activity by foreign nationals, will be examined. The State Department is coordinating closely with the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security in what one senior official called a “whole-of-government and whole-of-authority approach.”

Targeting Student Visas and Prior Oversight Failures

Since October 2023, federal officials have examined 100,000 individuals within the Student Exchange Visitor System to determine whether any visa revocations occurred due to arrests or school suspensions. The findings revealed a stark reality: “We found literally zero visa revocations during the Biden administration,” a senior official stated, suggesting a pattern of leniency toward enforcement.

Typically, a consular official revokes a visa upon receiving an alert about a foreign national’s arrest or suspension. However, under the prior administration, this process appears to have been overlooked, raising concerns about national security risks associated with unchecked visa holders.

Rubio and Trump’s Hardline Stance

The Immigration Nationality Act of 1952 grants the secretary of state the authority to revoke visas from individuals deemed a threat to national security. Rubio has been vocal about this power, stating just days after the October 7 attack: “We see people marching at our universities and in the streets of our country … calling for Intifada, celebrating what Hamas has done … Those people need to go.”

Former President Donald Trump echoed these sentiments in a January 30 White House fact sheet accompanying an executive order aimed at combating antisemitism and pro-Hamas activities. He warned: “To all the resident aliens who joined in the pro-jihadist protests, we put you on notice. We will find you, and we will deport you.”

Another executive order, issued January 20, specifically targets visa holders and foreign nationals who “threaten our national security” or “espouse hateful ideology.”

Social Media Scrubbing Expected

Now that news of this AI-driven crackdown has surfaced, it is expected that many foreign nationals who may be targeted will attempt to clean their social media profiles. However, completely erasing digital footprints is a challenging task, and authorities are prepared for such attempts.

The launch of “Catch and Revoke” signals a new era of heightened scrutiny over visa holders and foreign nationals engaging in activities deemed a threat to U.S. security. As the program unfolds, many will be watching to see how effectively it identifies and removes those deemed to have supported terrorist organizations from American soil.
