When You Trim Fat, Pigs SQUEAL! Sen. John Kennedy Hilariously Wrecks the ‘Tofu Crowd’ Over Trump and Musk’s Spending Cuts

Republican Sen. John Kennedy of Louisiana recently sat down with Larry Kudlow to discuss the state of the economy, particularly in light of comments made by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The conversation touched on inflation, economic recovery, and the policies that have contributed to the current economic challenges.

One of the most striking moments of the interview came when Kennedy laid out a three-pronged approach to restoring economic stability. The plan emphasized measures aimed at benefiting everyday Americans, lowering prices, and counteracting the effects of leftist economic policies that have been aggressively pushed by the mainstream media and their allies in Washington.

Among these measures, spending cuts took center stage. Kennedy summed up the issue succinctly with a memorable phrase: “When you trim fat, pigs squeal!” The senator’s words highlighted the predictable outrage from those who benefit from unchecked government spending, often the same individuals and institutions that champion liberal economic policies while ignoring their detrimental impact on the working class.

The so-called “tofu crowd” — a term Kennedy humorously applies to the most vocal opponents of fiscal responsibility — predictably reacted with outrage. However, it’s not just the liberal elite who protest spending cuts; it’s also the mainstream media, which has long functioned as an echo chamber for big-government policies. With rare exceptions like Fox News and Newsmax, most media outlets reflexively label conservative economic strategies as heartless while simultaneously glorifying the failed left-wing approaches that have driven inflation and economic instability.

This pattern is nothing new. No matter how disastrous a liberal policy might be, there will always be a contingent of the press that finds a way to spin it as a success. The more radical the policy, the louder the applause from the media.

If there were a fitting Latin phrase to sum up Kennedy’s message, it might be “Q.E.D.” — that which was to be demonstrated. The senator has once again made it abundantly clear: spending cuts are necessary, the leftist outrage is predictable, and the mainstream media’s bias is as evident as ever.
