WATCH LIVE: Officials Hold Press Conference as Jones Road Wildfire Burns Thousands of Acres in New Jersey
April 23, 2025 | New Jersey
Officials are holding a live press conference today as the Jones Road Wildfire continues to blaze through southern New Jersey, burning through more than 8,000 acres of forest land and forcing multiple evacuations across several townships.
Firefighters from across the state, supported by federal emergency teams, have been battling the flames since late Tuesday afternoon. Strong winds and dry conditions have fueled the fire's rapid expansion, prompting Governor Christine Reynolds to declare a State of Emergency early Wednesday morning.
“Our top priority is the safety of our residents,” said Governor Reynolds at the press briefing. “We are mobilizing every available resource to contain this fire and assist affected families.”
🔥 Emergency Response Underway
Officials from the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, FEMA, and local law enforcement are coordinating a large-scale response. Over 150 personnel, including aerial units and bulldozers, are currently engaged in fire suppression efforts.
Residents in areas near Jones Road, Pine Hollow, and parts of Brick Township have been ordered to evacuate, with emergency shelters set up in nearby schools and community centers.

During the live briefing, Fire Chief Laura Kim warned that weather conditions could worsen throughout the day:
